70's Kayla

Good morning all.

Yup - it's pretty chilly here again and I might have to put the heating on soon. Since the roof had a think layer of insulation last year the rooms upstairs are not freezing and generally feel a little warm after a sunny day. Downstairs however is a different matter. This is an old house and we can't get cavity insulation. But I do have a wood-burner which manages to warm downstairs apart from the bathroom. Let me tell you the seat is very cold in the middle of the night lol.
Talking of bathroom - today I am having a new bath put in and re-tiled. There is a small crack in the old one so it has to be changed. Finally going to be able to have a nice warm bath with candles, a glass of wine?? no, I am tea-total so will be a hot tea for me and a good book.

Here is my card for today which is for SOME ODD GIRL'S challenge ...........

............ I do love these images. The HUGE eyes, happy expressions they are just so fun to colour. I have used the sketch from the challenge. I hope you like it.

Little Umbrella

Good morning all.

Still brrrrr - getting colder here. Not sure what I expected since we are in the middle of October lol. Would love a house somewhere hot like Australia where I can spend the winter months but finances don't quiet stretch to that hehe.

I managed to get the doctor out to have a look at James yesterday. I don't have a car anymore and there is no way your can take a sick teenager on public transport. He thought that it was a bad flu virus which can also cause sickness. His advice was - plenty of rest, fluids and paracetamol. James' school e-mailed me with things he could get on with while he's home. This is an important year as at the end he will have a lot of exams for GCSE and although he's a bright kid and got extremely good grades last year he can't afford to miss too much.

Right, today's card doesn't have an image from the Lonely Stamps Club and this is one of my favorite images EVA made for LESS IS MORE .....................

................... this is the gorgeous Little Umbrella from Mo Manning. The challenge at Mo's this week is Inspired by a song and the other night while watching the Friends episode where Ross sings to his baby daughter "I like big *censored*" I instantly thought of this image lol. James thought it would go well with Queen's "Fat buttom girls". And guess what - I am not scared of white spaces anymore :).

Eden

Good morning all.

Brrrrrrrrr - it's getting colder, damp and grey. Feeling much better but I still have James home. He was sick (again) this morning so I have asked the doctor to have a look at him. It's definately not a bug as they don't last for days. We will just have to wait and see I guess.

Spent yesterday just pottering around as I was feeling sorry for myself with the flu (well, someone has to lol) and decided to look through my stamps. I don't know about you but I have several stamps that I bought cos I absolutely loved them and then only used once for a card before storing them away in my stamp boxes. And there they sit, forgotten, unloved and gathering wool. So I have decided it's time to get rid of the ones I will NEVER use again (not an easy task as I am constantly going - "hm, I might use it again" knowing full well I won't) and use the stamps I am keeping more - maybe even cut down on buying stamps - nahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! And that's just my rubber - dread to have a look thro my digi files.

So for today I have used one of the neglected stamps for the 1st QUIXOTIC SKETCH CHALLENGE ..............

........... And I have used this adorable stamp from Belles'n'Whistles designed by the talented Elisabeth Bell. How this end up in the Lonely Stamps Club I have no idea but she's not going back hehe. Teamed her up with some lovely papers and it makes a super card for a toddler :).

Drucilla

Good morning all

It really is starting to get colder but I love it when the sun is shining too - it really gives meaning to the saying "A brand new day". Still feeling rotten andnot sleeping well due to a sore throat but not a lot you can do about a flu lol.

My mum is finally back home after camping for 2 weeks. I thought she had been camping around Denmark but turns out they went to France. She has a very good friend who lives there and I think they had a lovely time.
I also got an update on my gran and it's not looking too good. She's slowly going downhill every day and is back in hospital. All she does is sleep, she has no appetit and seems to be losing the will. We are hoping she can go into a nursing home and that may cheer her up a little. So I am debating whether to go home or not to see her - on one hand I want to go and give her a massive hug and tell her how much I care about her, on the other I want to remember her as she was 2 years ago when I last saw her. There is also the financial side to consider but my mum would take care of that.

Ok, enough of my ramblings. This is for KRAFTIN' KIMMIE CHALLENGE ............

.................. who claim that this week's challenge is easy - "use your favorite KKS stamp. Are you joking?! Extremely HARD picking a favorite but I finally narrowed it down to Drucilla. She's so fun and funky and I LOVE her hair. KKS also have a guest design call for December which I may enter.

Chubby Chum

Good morning all.

There is nothing quiet like a flu to announce that autumn/winter is finally here. Yes, I have now got my first flu of the season - it's not quite in full forve yet but I definately feel rough. Not a lot you can do about that apart from drink a lot of fluid, stay warm and take a few painkillers. I am pretty sure I got it of James who has been poorly most of the week.

Made a call home to Denmark yesterday. I wanted to catch up with my dad's wife as she has been in terrible pain for a very long time and doctors couldn't really work out what was wrong with her. Turns out she has a rare condition called Lupus where the immune systems attacks healthy tissue and cells. Not nice but at least now she can get medication and hopefully get better.

Well, enough doom and gloom. I wanted to share a card I made for ..........

........ using this fabulous photo as inspiration .........

........ and this is what I made ..........

........... you may ask how this fits in with the inspiration photo - well, I love the shape of those tomatoes and I thought of a lot of little owls huddled up together to keep warm in winter. I did try a lot more owls but it got too confusing lol. The colours are wonderful and I used a little wooly embroidery thread for texture.
This is one of my favorite stamp sets - I adore the little animals (my daughter wants zoo ones lol).

MATERIALS USED

Chubby Chums from PaperSmooches

Kisses

Good evening all.

I know it's a little late for me to be posting but been a busy day. Went into town today to do my weekly shop. Luckily the shop delivers so I don't have to carry all those bags on the bus home.

I am going to have to book an appointment with my doctor again. Since June I have had a pain in my heel which gets really bad after a walk. If I sit down and rest I can hardly put any weight on my heel it's so painful. Last time I went he thought I had pulled a tendend and recommended rest and Ibuprofen. But it has not helped. So I think I need som fysio to try and resolve this. (A new foot might be preferred but they are in short supply hehe).

Well, here is my card for today .....................

................. I sincerely hope I am in time with this for MO'S CHALLENGE. This sweet little girl has been sitting on my desk for a week now begging to be coloured and I finally did it. Matched it up with a little patchwork. Isn't she fabulous!? I absolutely love her.

Thankful

Good morning all.

Well, woke up to dull, dark and wet weather. Autumn has finally arrived with a vengance lol. I hate mornings like that - I prefer waking up to sun and then the rain comes later. The sun always put me in a good mood.

Did my usual "guided reading" at school this morning. It's fun to help out and provide a little extra something for the youngest children at school to help them with reading and maths. It is only a small village school with about 80 pupils so it's nice for the kids. The big shock comes after year 6 (11 years old) when they go to secondary school and there are about 1000 pupils lol.

So my card for today is very appropriate to fall ................

............. this is a card for the WEE MEMORIES CHALLENGE "Halloween or fall". I used a free image and sentiment from PaperSmooches and paper pierced the "leaf".

MATERIALS USED

Image and sentiment from Paper Smooches
Scraps of dp
